This 985-acre park in Stevensville is characterized by magnificent dunes, deep blowouts and one mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. You will need to hike to the beach but the views are worth it. Three inland lakes lie behind the dunes in the undeveloped natural area.

Located on M-63 in the Lake Michigan Beach area near Coloma, this park offers paved parking, a wooden walkway and stairs to the beach below. Up top, there is a shaded picnic area with metal grills, playground equipment and porta johns. Leashed dogs are welcome. The park closes at 11 p.m.

This is one of the area’s most beautiful, lesser-used beaches. Located off M-63 in Benton Harbor, this family-friendly park offers swimming, restrooms/bathhouse, playground, picnic shelter and an observation trail up the dunes.

Located at the south end of Lions Park Drive in St. Joseph, this is a favorite picnic beach. There are three shelters, grills and restrooms, plus a new playground and recently refurbished sandy beach. A highlight is taking a walk or bike ride on the Howard Recreation Trail.

This small, quieter dune park is located on Blue Star Highway just south of the Van Buren County line. Dog-friendly, the trail down from the parking lot to the beach is about 0.3 miles. It’s a beautiful place for sunset playtime. Kayakers and stand up paddle boarders also like its carry-in beach access.

Overlooking Lake Michigan from a bluff in Benton Township, this park offers two levels of beach enjoyment. The lower park has 1,100 feet of Lake Michigan frontage for swimming or relaxing. The upper park presents spectacular panoramic views from its Overlook Deck. Open 8 a.m. ‘til sunset, April to October.

This is the area’s most happening beach. Located within walking distance of downtown St. Joseph, it stretches 2,450 feet from the mouth of the St. Joseph River to Park Street. There are lots of activities, beach wheelchairs and a barrier-free boardwalk to the South Pier and the Silver Beach Pavilion.

This is one of Lake Michigan’s most stunning beaches and a crown jewel among Michigan State Parks. Its 1,952 acres is home to three miles of sandy shoreline near Sawyer. Climb or surf down its towering dunes (up to 260 feet high). Or romp with your dog along two-and-a-half miles of pet-friendly shoreline.

This Bridgman beach showcases 40 acres of wooded dunes and 960 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. It has one of only three "direct access" boat launches in Michigan, especially suited for small fishing and sailing watercraft, kayaks and canoes. Its sunsets are legendary and during the summer are marked with live bugle “Taps”.
